Press Release
- Minister Seán Kyne confirms Central Bank’s third Language Scheme 2019-2022, commencing today, 8 April 2019.
- The Scheme sets out the next steps the Central Bank intends to take to progress the provision and range of services available through Irish.
The Central Bank’s third Language Scheme 2019-2022 has been confirmed by Seán Kyne T.D., the Minister of State at the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. The Scheme shall remain in force for a period of three years from 8 April 2019 or until a new scheme has been confirmed. The Scheme sets out the measures the organisation intends to take over the next three years in order to to progress the provision and range of services available through Irish.
As part of the new Scheme the Central Bank has committed to publish at least 40 per cent of all consumers explainers in Irish over the lifetime of the Scheme and we will make our Complaints Handling Procedure available in Irish online. Online information channels that did not exist at the beginning of the second Scheme, such as the new Central Bank website, the Collector Coin website and the Central Credit Register website, will continue to have in-built bilingual capability and content.
These measures are in addition to those services already required under the Official Languages Act 2003.
The Scheme is available here.
