This website meets the requirements of the EU Web Accessibility Directive with the exception of the non-accessible content listed below. It is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which the Directive references as the applicable technical standard.

Non-Accessible content

Some content on the www.centralbank.ie website does not fully comply with the European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020. We have listed the categories below. Central Bank of Ireland is aware of the following issues and is actively working to address them.

  • Certain semantic relationships such as headings, are not always communicated to screen reader users. This particularly also applies to older PDFs. The Consultation Papers page and some Excel fileslack accessible table column and row headers.
  • There is low colour contrast on a small number of webpages, some videos, and some PDFs and Excel files. The use of colour alone to convey information is also an issue in these areas.
  • Some filtering functionality may be difficult to navigate for screenreaders.
  • Status messages in Search results and Consultation papers are not conveyed to screen reader users.
  • Some of the main menu details and links on the Research Exchange, Report or Query an Unauthorised Firm and Innovation Hub Engagement forms are inaccessible on zoom. Empty focus points exist within some pages.
  • Video transcripts do not include additional audio descriptions and therefore do not convey visual information.
  • Attributes to indicate different languages are missing from some web pages and PDFs.
  • Alternative text descriptions for a number of graphics and charts are missing or limited and some images are not marked as decorative and are not hidden from screen readers.
  • In site search, screen reader users experience a “null” group announcement in Search results before the correct results are delivered.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was reviewed and updated on 17 July 2026 following a review of a sample number of pages against all relevant WCAG 2.1 AA Success Criteria.

The centralbank.ie website is subject to continuous automated review by the National Disability Authority (NDA) in accordance with the EU Web Accessibility Directive (WAD)/S.I. No 358/2020. The automated review score was 93% as of July 2026.
